Enclos de la Croix – The Cadet Red – Organic Red Wine of Languedoc – Merlot – Cabernet Franc – Cabernet Sauvignon

The enclos de la Croix is located in the heart of “la petite Camargue” between “l’Etang de l’Or” and the Cévennes mountains in the village of Lansargues. Traditionally a wine-growing village. The Vineyards’ personal background lives up to the history of its region. Built on a 24 Hectare parcel and surrounded by a charming low stone wall, the benevolent cross looks after the property. Between northern and southern winds (“Tramontane” and “Mistral”), we cultivate the vine on limestone clay soils where we prouve to be consistant in containing the energy of the stem to make a fine organic red wine.

• Vines in trellis of 7000 stocks / hectare with “Cordon de Royat” pruning
• Grape variety : Merlot – Cabernet Sauvignon

Wine Making Process

After a drastic plot selection with high quality potential, the grapes macerate at low temperature for a few days to extract the most color without hard tannins. Temperature will then gently raise to start alcoholic fermentation with gentle punching of the cap and light pumping overs. Malolactic fermentation is done in barrels followed by an eighteen month maturation.

Wine Tasting

Deep red wine with complexity and condensed smell. Touches of ripe fruits. The attack is powerful,  with a good balanced revealed by young and vigorous tannins. The maturation in barrels gives the wine a complex structure. Well balanced, this wine can be served in a carafe if needed or can be aged a few years.
